Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted love for family law, Ashley's present legal practice is focused on a variety of aspects of family issues. She concentrates a large portion of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes marital property distribution, child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues including step-parent and private parties adoptions, as well as concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by the court since 2019, assisting parties in helping them resolve their disputes without the need for litigation and court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters and also court-appointed mediation for those who wish to avoid court proceedings and litigation.
After completing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received dual Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. When she graduated in 2013, she excelled academically, placing among the top 10 students in her class. During her time at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal research and scholarship.
After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship experience, working for notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown, Maryland, to serve as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main focus within the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters which involved child welfare. Through her tireless efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of neglect or abuse at parent or caregivers. Her commitment to tackling social injustice was not limited to her legal career when she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to increase awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her expertise in family law - custody, divorce guardianships, child maintenance and divorce and estate and financial planning – wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.
Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the aim of providing a personalized approach for every client's needs.
