Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's practice in law is centered around family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses a majority of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes marital property distribution child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues as well as step-parent and private party adoptions and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year 2019. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the need for litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes as well as court-appointed mediation for individuals who want to stay clear of court proceedings and litigation.
After having completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received two bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. After graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, securing a spot among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This demonstrated her commitment to legal research and scholarship.
Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship, working for prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, expanding her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. As an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases concerning child welfare. Ashley's dedication to her work played a crucial role in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at hands their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice spanned far beyond the realm of law since she was actively an executive member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, working diligently to educate the public about human trafficking within the tri-state area.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law - divorce, child support, custody and guardianships - as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the aim of providing a customized approach to each client's needs.
