Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's law practice is focused on family law. She has a love for it. She concentrates a large portion of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes, divorce property distribution child custody battles child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues, step-parent and private party adoptions, as well as concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including wills, trusts, probate, and estate administration, in addition to commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by the court since 2019 helping parties to help them resolve their matters without needing court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters and also court-appointed mediation for individuals who wish to avoid court processes and litigation.
After finishing her undergraduate education at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received dual Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. In 2013, she graduated, and excelled academically, placing among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This was a sign of her dedication to scholarship and research in the field of law.
Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the privilege of serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown Maryland to work as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. The primary goal of the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases dealing with child welfare. Ashley's devoted efforts were instrumental in helping children who were victims of abuse or negligence at the hands their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice spanned far beyond the realm of law and she was active as an executive member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force working tirelessly to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tri-state area.
In 2017 she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law - divorce, custody guardianships, child maintenance and divorce – as well as financial planning and estate planning – wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.
Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023 with the commitment to provide a personalized approach for every client's needs.
