THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's practice in law is centered around family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also deals with the post-divorce and enforcement of issues, step-parent adoptions and private adoptions at parties as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since 2019, assisting parties in helping them settle their disputes without needing to litigate or court involvement. In addition to mediations that are court-appointed, Ashley also mediates in private cases for those who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.

After finishing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received dual bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students of her class. During her time in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review and demonstrated her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship, working for notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to work as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Subsequently, in 2014, she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, expanding her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered neglect or abuse at by their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice extended beyond her legal career when she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to increase awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and began her practice in family law including custody, divorce and child maintenance as well as guardianships – as well as financial and estate planning - wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.

Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a the intention of providing a personalized approach to every client's needs.
